Our program provides a robust clinical-procedural experience, research/investigational opportunities, exposure to latest technology in the field, and medical education. The Interventional Pulmonology (IP) Program at Henry Ford Hospital is one of the oldest IP Programs in the U.S. Since 1993, we have trained almost 30 fellows in IP. Our exclusive 1-year training IP fellowship started in 2007 and takes place only at the main Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Since then we have graduated at least one IP fellow every year. Our fellowship program was granted the Accreditation from the AABIP/AIPPD in 2018.

About the Fellowship Program

The IP Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital provides the trainees with extensive training and experience in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy, as well as pleural procedures. Interaction with the different specialties related to IP provides our trainees with expertise in a multidisciplinary approach to patients.

Given our position, our program has a wide variety of cases referred from all over the state, the Midwest and the country. This variety includes malignant (60%) and benign (40%) conditions. We are a center for cutting edge technology and research in the U.S.

  • IP Academic Sessions: Second Monday of the month (12pm-4pm): IP Grand Rounds, IP Journal Club, M and M, Research Presentation
  • Fourth Monday of the month (3pm-4pm): Guest IP Grand Rounds
  • Multidisciplinary Tumor Board: Wednesday 7am – 8am
  • Difficult Airway Conference: Quarterly. Multidisciplinary conference (ENT, Anesthesia, Surgery)

Housing: Detroit has ranked top 10 of major American and international cities in housing affordability by Demographia. Henry Ford Hospital also has an apartment building on campus for trainees to rent.
